Bugatchi at Mondo Uomo

Bugatchi is the sport shirt line Mondo Uomo sells more of than any other, and the reason is usually the fabric. Its signature OoohCotton® is a stretch cotton knit that resists wrinkles well enough to live in a suitcase — which suits the way Mondo Uomo customers live, moving between homes, travel and dinner without wanting to press anything. Mondo Uomo has been a Naples, Florida destination for fine menswear for more than 30 years, serving customers from across the country, and carries Bugatchi shirts, polos, knitwear and outerwear in depth across the full size run.

Who Makes Bugatchi?

Bugatchi was founded in Montreal in 1981 by Cecile and Daniel Revah to present a new vision of modern menswear. The brand built its reputation on fabrics handpicked from leading European mills, with accessories and select pieces designed and manufactured in Italy, and an expertise in print and color that still defines its shirts. It expanded into the United States through New York in the 1990s, and produced the Bugatchi Uomo for Michael Jordan collection in 1991. Today Bugatchi is best known for its proprietary performance fabrics, led by OoohCotton®.

What Is OoohCotton® Fabric?

OoohCotton® is Bugatchi's exclusive performance cotton: 92% premium American long-staple cotton and 8% elastane, knit from 120-count two-ply yarn and double-mercerized for luster and durability. Bugatchi engineered it for 8-way stretch, breathability, quick drying and natural wrinkle resistance, with an antimicrobial finish. It appears on more than 150 of the Bugatchi styles Mondo Uomo currently stocks, which makes it the single most common fabric in the Bugatchi range.

The practical difference is what happens after a flight or a day in the car. A standard poplin dress shirt holds creases; an OoohCotton® shirt relaxes out of them within a few minutes of being worn. That is the entire reason the fabric exists.

How Much Do Bugatchi Shirts Cost?

At full price, a Bugatchi sport shirt typically costs $199 at Mondo Uomo — the same as on Bugatchi's own site — with the range running from about $179 for short sleeve styles to $350 at the top of the line. The figures below are full retail prices for the Bugatchi in stock at Mondo Uomo as of August 2026; sale pricing is a separate matter, covered underneath.

CategoryFull price rangeTypical full price
Sport shirts$179 – $350$199
Polos$129 – $350$225
Knit sweaters$149 – $598$199
Outerwear$199 – $895$298

Past-season Bugatchi is marked down continuously rather than in one seasonal event, typically 25–60% off with most reductions around 40%, and sale prices starting near $89. The Bugatchi sale section is worth checking before paying full price on a basic color.

How Do Bugatchi Shirts Fit?

Most current Bugatchi shirts come in one standard cut: a regular shaped fit, gently tapered through the waist without being tight. Bugatchi used to label shirts Classic Fit or Shaped Fit and sell many styles in both; the brand has scaled Classic Fit well back, and most shirts no longer carry a fit label at all. In the Bugatchi range at Mondo Uomo today, only a handful of styles still offer a "Choose Your Fit" option between the two.

Where you do see the older labels — mostly on past-season and sale styles — Classic Fit is the fuller, straight-cut option and Shaped Fit is slightly narrower in the waist, hip and chest.

Does Bugatchi Run True to Size?

Generally yes. The standard shaped fit is cut for a normal build, and the stretch in OoohCotton® forgives more than a rigid woven would. If you are between sizes or prefer extra room across the chest and shoulders, size up. Bugatchi notes that measurements vary slightly between styles, which is one reason trying the shirt on in the Naples store settles the question fastest — and why the Mondo Uomo staff keep regular customers' sizes on file.

Bugatchi Shirt Models: James, Axel, Miles, Julian, Devon and Jimmy

Bugatchi names its core shirt models, and knowing the names makes reordering much easier. Mondo Uomo stocks all six current models in depth.

ModelWhat it isAt Mondo Uomo
JamesThe core long sleeve OoohCotton® shirt; solids, heathers and mini prints41 styles in stock
AxelSpread collar, mother-of-pearl buttons, curved hem for tucked or untucked wear36 styles
MilesThe short sleeve OoohCotton® shirt33 styles
JulianThe statement print model, including marble and abstract patterns24 styles
DevonLong sleeve OoohCotton® in plaids and micro dots14 styles
JimmyThe double-sided OoohCotton® shirt, finished on both faces of the fabric13 styles

Mondo Uomo's Bugatchi pricing tracks the brand's own list prices — Bugatchi sells the James at $199 and the Miles at $179 on its site, and the same shirts sit in the same range here, with past-season colors marked down in the sale section.

Beyond OoohCotton®: Soft Touch™ and Aerolinen

OoohCotton® is the flagship, but Bugatchi builds other proprietary fabrics. Mondo Uomo currently stocks Soft Touch™ — a brushed, fine-gauge knit used in sweaters and vests — and Aerolinen, Bugatchi's lightweight linen blend, in select pants. Bugatchi also produces Super Merino™ knitwear seasonally.

What Sizes Does Bugatchi Come In?

Bugatchi shirts, polos and knitwear at Mondo Uomo run S, M, L, XL, XXL and 3XL. Bugatchi bottoms and shorts use numeric waist sizes from 32 to 40. Not every color exists in every size at a given moment, which is the usual reason a size looks unavailable online.

What Is Bugatchi Actually Made Of?

Bugatchi is not a single-fabric brand. The compositions below are the ones that appear most often across the Bugatchi styles Mondo Uomo currently stocks.

CompositionWhere it shows upWhat to expect
92% cotton, 8% spandexThe most common OoohCotton® sport shirtsNoticeable stretch, strong wrinkle recovery
97% cotton, 3% elastaneWoven sport shirtsSlight give, crisper hand than the 8% blends
100% Pima cottonPolos and knit shirtsSoft, breathable, no stretch
65% modal rayon, 35% polyesterKnit polos and polo sweatersFluid drape, holds color well
100% linenWarm-weather shirtsCoolest option, wrinkles by design

If wrinkle resistance is the priority, the cotton-spandex blends are the ones to look for. If breathability in August matters more, the linen styles are cooler but will crease.

How Do You Wash Bugatchi Shirts?

Bugatchi's official care for OoohCotton® is simple: machine wash on a regular cycle in cold water, and no ironing is necessary. The brand also recommends hanging the garment after wearing, which lets the knit recover its shape between wears. Creases release as the shirt hangs, so pressing is rarely needed. Always check the individual garment label — Bugatchi's linen, suede and sweater pieces have different requirements.

Do Bugatchi Shirts Shrink?

Not meaningfully when cared for as directed: cold water and low or no dryer heat. Hot water and high heat are what cause shrinkage, and they also shorten the life of the elastane that gives the fabric its stretch and recovery.

Are Bugatchi Shirts Good for Travel?

This is the strongest practical argument for the brand. An OoohCotton® shirt can be folded into a bag, worn the same evening, and look presentable without pressing. Customers who fly between Naples and a second home tend to buy Bugatchi in multiples for exactly this reason.

Long Sleeve or Short Sleeve?

Mondo Uomo stocks both, weighted toward long sleeve. Long sleeve is the year-round workhorse — dinner, the office, layering under a jacket. Short sleeve is the warm-weather, resort and golf-course answer. Browse Bugatchi long sleeve shirts or Bugatchi short sleeve shirts.

What About Bugatchi Polos?

Bugatchi polos divide into knit polos in modal and polyester blends, and Pima cotton polos with a more traditional hand. The knit polo sweaters, with a three-button placket and ribbed cuffs and hem, sit between a polo and a light sweater and are the ones most often worn to dinner rather than to golf. See the Bugatchi polo collection.

What About Bugatchi Knitwear?

Bugatchi knitwear runs from lightweight cotton crews to textured full-zip styles, generally $149 to $598 at full price with most pieces around $199. It is a lighter-weight program than a dedicated knitwear house — layering weight rather than winter weight. For heavier and more exclusive knitwear, Mondo Uomo carries St. Croix, handcrafted in the United States. Browse Bugatchi knitwear or the full knitwear collection.

Does Bugatchi Make Outerwear?

Yes, though it is the smallest part of the line. Bugatchi outerwear at Mondo Uomo spans light blousons through to suede pieces, from $199 to $895 at full price. Quantities are limited and styles rarely repeat between seasons.

Is Bugatchi Worth It? Bugatchi vs. Zegna and Brunello Cucinelli

The instinct is to compare Bugatchi downward, against mall brands — but the more useful comparison is upward. A Zegna polo starts around $475; a Brunello Cucinelli cotton polo runs about $740, and Cucinelli casual shirts commonly sit between $500 and $1,000. Those houses earn their prices with hand finishing, their own fabric mills, and a level of cachet Bugatchi does not claim. What they do not offer is a performance fabric: neither makes a shirt that stretches eight ways, dries quickly, and comes out of a suitcase ready to wear.

At a typical $199, a Bugatchi shirt delivers Italian production, European mill fabrics and a proprietary performance cotton at roughly a quarter to a third of the luxury-house price. For the customer who wears sport shirts as a daily uniform and travels often, that is the strongest value in the category — and for the occasion that calls for Cucinelli-level luxury, the honest answer is that Bugatchi is not trying to be that shirt.

Bugatchi is also not the most formal shirt Mondo Uomo carries. For dress shirts under a jacket, Stenströms is the more appropriate choice.

Who Is Bugatchi For?

The Bugatchi customer at Mondo Uomo is dressing to a smart-casual standard: dinner out, a club, travel, an office without a tie. He wants a shirt that looks considered without requiring maintenance. Mondo Uomo's Bugatchi customers come from all over the country — Naples regulars, seasonal residents, and customers who shop by phone and online — and they are often buying three or four at a time in different colors.

Where Can You Buy Bugatchi in Naples, Florida?

Mondo Uomo carries Bugatchi at 4232 Gulf Shore Blvd N in Naples, Florida, and ships across the United States from the same inventory. The store has served Naples for more than 30 years, and the Bugatchi assortment on the floor is the full one, not a token selection. Buying in person is worth it for a first Bugatchi purchase — settling your size and seeing the fabrics side by side takes minutes with the shirt on a hanger.

Can You Try Bugatchi On Before Buying?

Yes. Mondo Uomo is a physical store first, and the sales team works with customers to settle fit and size before they commit. Regular customers' sizes and preferences are known to the staff, so reorders are frequently handled over the phone.

Can Mondo Uomo Get Bugatchi Styles That Aren't on the Floor?

Often, yes. Mondo Uomo has carried Bugatchi for years and maintains a close working relationship with the brand, with access to its full collection — a vast one that no single store floor can hold. Bugatchi produces far more styles, prints and colors each season than any retailer displays, so if you are after a specific model, print or color you have seen elsewhere, ask. If Bugatchi has it, Mondo Uomo can usually source it.

What Pairs With Bugatchi?

Bugatchi sport shirts are most often bought alongside Alberto trousers, the German-made pant program that anchors the Mondo Uomo bottoms business, or jeans for a more casual pairing. For a jacket over the top, see tailored clothing. Belts and accessories are in accessories. For a more European luxury sportswear look, Mondo Uomo also carries Paul & Shark.

Past-Season and Discontinued Bugatchi Styles

Bugatchi changes prints and colors every season, and a style that sold well one year is often gone the next. If you are looking for a specific Bugatchi style number that no longer appears on this site, it has most likely been discontinued rather than sold out. Mondo Uomo can usually identify the closest current equivalent in the same fabric and fit, which is generally a better outcome than hunting a retired style. Past-season stock that remains is in the Bugatchi sale section.

How Mondo Uomo Buys Bugatchi

Bugatchi is bought at market for the Naples selling season, with the deepest assortment on the floor from November through March. Because most of the range is not reorderable mid-season, a color or print that sells out generally does not come back that year. Sizes and core colors are the priority in every buy.

Bugatchi Questions, Answered

Who makes Bugatchi?
Bugatchi is a menswear brand founded in Montreal in 1981 by Cecile and Daniel Revah, known for European fabrics and its OoohCotton® performance cotton.

Is Bugatchi an Italian brand?
Bugatchi is Italian-inspired menswear with real Italian production — pieces are designed and manufactured in Italy with European mill fabrics — though the company was founded in Montreal in 1981.

What is OoohCotton® made of?
92% premium American long-staple cotton and 8% elastane, double-mercerized and knit for 8-way stretch.

Is OoohCotton® really wrinkle-free?
It is wrinkle-resistant, not wrinkle-proof. Creases relax out within minutes of wearing, but deep folds may need a brief press.

Can Bugatchi shirts go in the dryer?
Yes, on low heat. Remove while slightly damp and hang to finish.

What fit are Bugatchi shirts?
Most current Bugatchi shirts come in one regular shaped fit, gently tapered without being tight. The old Classic/Shaped labels now appear only on select styles.

Does Bugatchi run true to size?
Generally yes. Between sizes, or for extra room in the chest and shoulders, size up.

What sizes does Bugatchi come in?
S through 3XL in shirts, polos and knitwear. Waist 32 to 40 in bottoms.

How much is a Bugatchi shirt?
Typically $199 at full price, in line with Bugatchi's own list prices, with past-season styles marked down 25–60%.

Are Bugatchi shirts good for hot weather?
Yes. The breathable cotton-elastane and linen fabrics handle heat well, and work just as comfortably indoors year-round.

Where is Bugatchi sold in Naples, Florida?
At Mondo Uomo, 4232 Gulf Shore Blvd N, Naples, Florida.

Does Mondo Uomo ship Bugatchi?
Yes, across the United States, from the same stock as the Naples store.

Can Mondo Uomo special-order Bugatchi styles?
Usually. The store has a close relationship with Bugatchi and access to the brand's full collection, so styles not on the floor can often be sourced on request.

Is Bugatchi machine washable?
Most sport shirts are. Wash cold, tumble dry low, and check the garment label.

Does Bugatchi shrink?
Not meaningfully when washed cold and dried low. Hot water and high heat cause shrinkage.

When does Bugatchi go on sale?
Past-season styles are marked down continuously rather than in a single seasonal event.

Is Bugatchi comparable to Zegna or Brunello Cucinelli?
It sits below them in price and cachet — a typical Bugatchi shirt is $199 versus $475–$1,000 — but neither offers a performance stretch fabric like OoohCotton®.
